Other beaver signs are the dragging marks of branches which they carry into the water. These marks were found on a riverbank in Western Newfoundland, Ca.


This lodge of Castor fiber, the Eurasian Beaver was found in marsh fields in Eastern Poland near the boarders of Belarus. The paths created by the animals and high numbers of gnawing signs were easily discovered.



Early may 2003 a beaver was a temporarily resident of a small trout pond in Ohio Setlement, Weymouth, Nova Scotia.While aprouching the animal it would dive and hit its tail on the watersurface to make clear that it did not appreciate human attention.


The biggest aquatic rodent of North America and Canada is the beaver. Although having a more than average size this animal is hardly seen during the day and one is more like to encounter the many distinct features of beaver presence. Examples of these features are the dams and lodges which can reach up to 4 meters in total, the castoreum scent mounds which the animals leave to mark their territory and not to forget the gnawing signs on trees and branches

A beaver lodge was located near Weymouth, Nova Scotia. In the background the paths which the beavers use to travel from the lodge to their feeding areas are clearly visible.
